The Egyptian initiative is hosting a camp for children who are currently on vacation and live abroad, Etkallem Arabi (Speak Arabic), to teach them about the history of ancient Egyptian civilization.
The camp, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Emigration and Expatriates Affairs and the Hayat El-Zomra initiative, will take place this Saturday at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC). This is an excellent opportunity for children aged 8 to 13 to learn and participate in fun activities. Interested parents can register their children through the provided form.
Etkallem Arabi is a presidential initiative launched in 2020 to help second and third-generation Egyptians living abroad strengthen their Arab-Egyptian identity. The initiative aims to enhance the children’s Arabic language skills while introducing them to Egyptian heritage, customs, traditions, and values.
The initiative has been well-received, with approximately seven million people showing interest in it so far, according to the Minister of Emigration, Soha Gendi. The Etkallem Arabi mobile app, which provides lessons, games, and activities for children to learn Arabic, has recently increased its user base from 20,000 to over 50,000. Additionally, the initiative’s Facebook page has reached nearly 5.1 million users, and 1.6 million users follow them on Instagram. Five hundred ninety-seven thousand people have viewed Etkallem Arabi’s video content.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) also welcomed the initiative in 2020 and included it in its annual World Arabic Language Day celebration on 18 December. With 14 million Egyptians living abroad, the Etkallem Arabi initiative aims to help build a generation of expats with solid Egyptian roots.
