Environment min. to participate in COP 15 in Canada

Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad asserted the importance of the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15), due on December 7-19, to reach a framework for a roadmap for biodiversity after 2020.

Egypt has succeeded during presiding over COP14 to declare the draft of this framework in the exceptional circumstances imposed by coronavirus pandemic.

Fouad said that on Tuesday before heading for Montréal in Canada to participate in the UN Biodiversity Conference’s High-Level Segment.

Fouad will participate in the 10th meeting of Conference of Parties of Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and the 4th meeting of Conference of Parties of Nagoya Protocol.

Fouad will shed light on the importance of the integrated entrance for maintaining biodiversity via linking three Rio Conventions on biodiversity, climate change and desertification called for by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in 2018 during COP14.
