Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir followed up on the progress rate of the Upper Egypt railway station that will serve as a gateway to Upper Egypt governorates.

In statements during the tour, the minister said the new station, which will be three times larger than Ramses station, is being built in a central location between Ramses and Giza railway stations, making it a meeting point of Egypt’s main railway lines.

The ground floor will also house administrative offices, 48 ticket counters, toilets, and a lobby under a 40-meter-high glass pyramid surrounded by four obelisks.

According to Wazir’s statement last Sunday, the new station aims to relieve pressure from Cairo’s Misr Railway Station (Ramses Station) and ease traffic congestion at Ramses Square.
