In a phone call yesterday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed to his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad Egypt’s solidarity with Syria and its people in light of the massive earthquake that hit Syria last Monday and its negative impacts on citizens of the country.

The Egyptian leader offered sincere condolences regarding victims killed in the destructive earthquake, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.

El-Sisi further emphasized, during their conversation, that he has issued directives for providing all forms of relief aid and assistance to Syria, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.

In return, the Syrian president expressed great gratitude for the Egyptian president’s considerate gesture, highlighting historical and sisterly relations between Egypt and Syria and their people.
