Egypt’s Planning Ministry Unveils $660 Million Investment Plan for Matrouh Governorate

The Egyptian Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation has released its detailed investment blueprint for Matrouh Governorate, targeting 206 development projects with a total investment of  EGP 20.4 billion for the fiscal year 2024/2025.

Key Investment Highlights

In a comprehensive report, Minister of Planning Dr. Rania Al-Mashat emphasized that the **”Citizen’s Investment Plan” aims to enhance transparency and community participation in development efforts. The plan is part of the government’s broader strategy to achieve “Egypt’s Vision 2030” sustainable development goals.

 Sector-Specific Investments

The investment portfolio reveals a significant focus on key sectors:

– Energy and Electricity: EGP13.9 billion (68.1% of total investments)
-Housing: EGP2.9 billion (14.4%)
– Transportation: EGP 1.2 billion (7.3%)
– Local Development: EGP 603 million (3%)
– Higher Education: EGP 3.2 billion (3.4%)
– Healthcare: EGP 508 million (2.5%)
– Pre-University Education: EGP 274 million (1.3%)

Ministerial Perspective

Dr. Al-Mashat stressed that these citizen investment plans play a crucial role in building trust between citizens and the stat by involving them in monitoring project implementation. The plan ensures citizens’ right to access official information and helps bridge developmental gaps across different regions.

The Matrouh Governorate investment plan represents a significant step in Egypt’s ongoing efforts to decentralize development and engage citizens in the country’s economic planning process.
