Egypt’s Human Rights Council supports the UN’s report on Gaza

Egypt’s National Council for Human Rights praised the report of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the state of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, which was examined at the UN Human Rights Council’s 55th session in Geneva.

Francesca Albanese’s research, titled “Anatomy of a Genocide,” revealed overwhelming evidence that Israel perpetrated genocide against Gaza Strip civilians.

In a press release, the NCHR noted that the present crimes of the Israeli occupation have remained unabated for approximately six months despite the unwavering acquiescence of major global powers and the UN Security Council’s inability to press Israel to stop its heinous acts of assault against the Gaza Strip, which blatantly violate international war laws.

The NCHR underscored that the actual catastrophic ramifications of Israeli atrocities surpass those documented in the report. The death toll, amounting to around 50,000 individuals, with over half being children and women, reflects a deliberate targeting of civilians, including those seeking humanitarian aid or receiving medical care in facilities obliterated by Israeli forces.

Simultaneously, the NCHR urged all governments, civil society organizations, and humanitarian bodies to heed the report’s revelations of unprecedented criminal acts conducted by the Israeli military. These include the systematic destruction of infrastructure, contamination of water sources, and obstruction of relief efforts, affecting hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.

Emphasizing the report’s findings regarding the displacement of 80 percent of the population and the decimation of 70 percent of the territory, the NCHR condemned any complicity in ignoring these crimes. It calls for a collective awakening of global conscience to isolate Israel and hold it accountable for its atrocities swiftly.
