Egypt’s FM holds talks with Denmark’s Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy
According to Egypt Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry met Monday with Danish Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy Dan Joergensen on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
Minister Shokry praised Denmark’s contribution to climate action, noting that the country hosted a ministerial meeting on the implementation of climate pledges in May, and Minister Joergensen was facilitating climate mitigation negotiations at COP 27. This is in addition to the country’s extensive wind energy experience.
In turn, the Danish minister praised the Egypt-hosted COP 27 for its success in multiple aspects of climate action, saying he looked forward to holding consultations with the country until the end of 2023 when COP 28 will be held in the UAE.
The minister of foreign affairs and COP 27 president noted the pivotal role of international financing institutions in funding climate action and the necessity of securing funds for the Green Climate Fund.
