Egyptian Government Denounces Israeli Bombardment of Al Aqsa Mosque

News Agencies

Egypt strongly condemned the storming of the Al Aqsa Mosque compound by an Israeli minister, along with a resolution passed by the Knesset rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state. Egypt stated that these actions blatantly violate international legitimacy resolutions and references to the peace process.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Egypt emphasized the dangers of such measures and the irresponsible escalation it entails, expressing repeated concerns over these actions.

It pointed out that the timing of this escalation, coinciding with Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and repeated incursions into the West Bank, only serves to stoke tensions and inflame sentiments among not only the Palestinian people but also among Muslims worldwide.

Egypt called on the Israeli government to respect the legal and historical status of Jerusalem, particularly the location of the iconic Islamic endowment Al-Aqsa Mosque.

It also urged international parties to uphold their responsibilities in advocating for Palestinian rights, respecting Islamic and Christian holy sites, and putting an end to repeated Israeli violations.

Egypt underscored its commitment to pursuing a just, permanent, and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, ultimately leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of June 1967, with Eastern Jerusalem as its capital.
