As a component of the ARCH (Action for Regional Climate Help) project, Egypt has formally launched local climate initiatives. A program on climate adaptation and mitigation was completed by trained participants, which led to the identification of project ideas that show promise. To help with implementation, 500 EUR in seed funding has been given to each of the chosen projects.
One important component of the program is the ongoing mentoring of the selected projects, which is intended to offer direction and assistance for their successful completion. The project’s impact and reach are enhanced by the partnership with YLE, a local organization that prioritizes community involvement.
Future plans call for the most successful projects to be evaluated for upscaling, and a second funding round is planned for the following year. This project supports the shared objective of encouraging ecologically friendly behavior and influencing Egypt’s climate policy.
