Egypt Dedicates Hotline to Provide Health Services to Sudanese Refugees

by Nada Khaled

Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population launched an automated response hotline to address the healthcare needs of Sudanese refugees in Egypt. The service is accessible by sending a text message to hotline number 15335, using the keyword “Nile” or “the Nile” in Arabic only.

Users will receive a comprehensive list of available medical services, according to the “Ahram Online” website.

The hotline offers information on the nearest healthcare facilities, medical conditions, mental health support, as well as national emergency hotlines.

When seeking guidance regarding medical conditions, users will be directed to either the track for pregnant women or the one for children’s health. Children’s services encompass vital healthcare aspects such as vaccinations, hearing inspections, and thyroid problems.

In the mental health support section, users can contact the national mental health support hotline directly or explore the resources available on the General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment (GSMHAT) website.

The hotline also provides important national hotline numbers, including 16474 for the health ministry, 122 for the national helpline, and 180 for firefighters.

Providing care for those displaced from Sudan is our priority, the ministry said.
