The Egyptian government has awarded ZeroCarbon a contract to manage and operate a solid waste recycling and treatment plant in Difrah, Gharbia Governorate. This marks a significant step towards achieving sustainable development and improving waste management in Egypt.
Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad and Minister of Local Development Manal Awad witnessed the signing ceremony on Tuesday. The project aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s vision of building the necessary infrastructure for integrated solid waste management.
The partnership between the government and ZeroCarbon aims to utilize advanced technology for waste treatment and recycling, reducing environmental pollution and promoting a circular economy. The plant is expected to create jobs and stimulate the local economy while producing alternative fuels.
In this regard, Fouad emphasized the government’s dedication to sustainable waste management. She also underscored the importance of this project for Gharbia Governorate. She also expressed the government’s goal of increasing the recycling rate and reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills.
On the other hand, Awad stressed the government’s efforts to involve the private sector in waste management and emphasized the project’s significance in improving the living conditions of citizens. She highlighted the positive impact that the plant will have on the community by providing better waste management services and creating economic opportunities.
