Damietta Governorate Promotes Economic Independence For Women Through The 1,000 Golden Days Initiative

In a significant move toward the economic empowerment of women, Damietta Governorate has successfully implemented a series of vocational training programs under the 1,000 Golden Days Initiative for Egyptian Family Development. This initiative, held under the patronage of the Governor of Damietta and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Population in Damietta, reflects the state’s commitment to providing women with the tools they need for financial independence and a better quality of life.

The program, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and the Population Unit of Damietta Governorate, featured four specialized training courses in sewing and tailoring. Held in the city of Mit Abu Ghalib, the sessions were designed to prepare local women for the labor market and inspire the launch of small-scale home businesses.

To ensure the training was accessible, a mobile training unit was stationed in Mit Abu Ghalib. This facility allowed 40 participants to engage in hands-on learning under the supervision of the Health Education and Communication Department and the Family Development Department at the Damietta Health Directorate.

The impact of the program was celebrated during the Damietta National Day festivities. To further encourage entrepreneurship, the Governor of Damietta presented sewing machines to the top-performing trainees. This gesture aims to provide the necessary infrastructure for these women to start their own projects immediately, turning their newly acquired skills into sustainable income.

Beyond economic benefits, the 1,000 Golden Days Initiative integrates health awareness and social communication. By focusing on the first stages of family life and the empowerment of mothers, the initiative seeks to build a more conscious and stable Egyptian family, ultimately raising the health, economic, and social standards across the governorate.
