Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of the World Bank Group emphasized on Sunday the importance of Egypt’s decades-long partnership with the World Bank Group, which has resulted in increased technical assistance and development financing for a variety of priority projects.

Mashat was speaking with Prime Minister’s Advisor for Tenders Affairs Mahmoud El Sakka, Assistant Prime Minister and Head of Information and Decision Support Center Osama El-Juhari, and Prime Minister’s Economic Affairs Advisor Jehan Saleh when this occurred.

The discussions focused on the World Bank’s technical assistance to state-owned enterprises and preparations for the World Bank’s upcoming technical mission to discuss the framework of technical cooperation with the government regarding the implementation of the State Ownership Policies document.

The meeting discussed the government’s priorities and vision for technical cooperation with the World Bank Group, the needs and requirements for implementing the State Ownership Policies document, and preparations for the World Bank’s technical mission.

The mission will hold several meetings with relevant national entities to develop a vision for future technical cooperation within the framework of the bank’s strategic partnership for the period 2023-2027.

The minister emphasized the significance of ongoing efforts with the World Bank to empower the private sector as part of the Strategic Partnership Framework for 2023-2027.

This framework marks a new chapter in the joint effort to achieve prosperity, specifically by creating and supporting an environment conducive to private-sector-led investment.

The strategy aims to increase investment in human capabilities, improve human capital outcomes across all governorates, and encourage the private sector’s diverse participation in economic activities.

Al-Mashat underscored the importance of continuing collaboration with the World Bank to empower the private sector.

This meeting is in keeping with the government’s vision and the Egyptian government’s efforts to enable and enhance private sector participation in development.
