As the world turns its gaze toward the long-awaited opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Giza, a new generation of Egyptian artisans is stepping into the spotlight.
In collaboration with the museum’s official gift shop, “Beit El Hedayat” (House of Gifts), the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) has unveiled a curated collection of handcrafted products made by Egypt’s young creators and heritage artists.

Celebrating Craftsmanship at a Global Landmark

The initiative gives MSMEDA’s young entrepreneurs and traditional artisans a global platform inside one of the world’s largest and most anticipated museums — a place where ancient treasures meet modern Egyptian creativity.
Visitors from around the world can now explore a diverse selection of heritage-inspired products, from hand-woven textiles and copperwork to leather goods and ceramics rooted in Egypt’s cultural identity.

Basel Rahmy: “A Small Contribution to a Great National Achievement”

Basel Rahmy, CEO of MSMEDA, congratulated the Egyptian people on the completion and opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum — calling it “a national symbol of Egypt’s historic leadership in architecture, engineering, and civilization.”

Empowering Egypt’s Heritage Crafts Sector

Rahmy explained that this collaboration is part of Egypt’s National Strategy for Developing Heritage Crafts, launched by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, who also chairs MSMEDA’s Board of Directors.
The strategy focuses on reviving traditional crafts, improving product quality, and promoting Egyptian artisans internationally by featuring their work in cultural and tourist destinations — including the Grand Egyptian Museum and major tourism hubs across the country.

Bridging Past and Present

Each piece displayed in Beit El Hedayat tells a story. From Nubian embroidery and Sinai beadwork to brass ornaments and pharaonic-inspired leather accessories, the products blend ancient Egyptian artistry with a modern aesthetic.
For tourists, these creations offer more than souvenirs — they are pieces of living heritage, crafted by the hands of Egypt’s new generation of creators.

A Cultural and Economic Renaissance

By integrating local craftsmanship into one of the world’s most significant cultural destinations, MSMEDA’s initiative highlights how heritage preservation and economic development can go hand in hand.
The Grand Egyptian Museum — now a symbol of Egypt’s global cultural leadership — has become not just a space for ancient relics, but a living showcase of contemporary Egyptian talent.

From the pharaohs’ legacy to the creativity of today’s youth, the story of Egyptian craftsmanship continues — vibrant, resilient, and ready for the world stage.
