On the occasion of the International Day of the Girl, Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly paid tribute to the creativity, determination, and achievements of Egyptian girls, affirming the government’s sustained efforts to support and empower them across all sectors.
During a tour of multiple development and service projects in Qalyubia Governorate, Madbouly marked the globally recognized day—observed annually on October 11 under the United Nations—with a message of pride and continued state support.
“Egyptian girls have consistently proven their ability to innovate and excel. The state views them as a cornerstone of national human capital development and is committed to investing in their future,” Madbouly stated.
Egyptian Girls Advancing in Education and Industry
The Prime Minister noted a visible rise in female participation in both technical education and labor-intensive industries. This observation was based on his visits to:
- A ready-made garment factory
- A technical high school for jewelry and gold-making
- Benha National University
He highlighted that educators and factory managers report higher performance levels among female students and workers, reinforcing the critical role young women are playing in Egypt’s evolving labor market.
Female Dominance in University Enrollment
Madbouly referenced the latest official statistics for the 2024–2025 academic year, showing that girls now make up the majority of students in public universities:
- Total students: 1,963,789
- Female students: 1,049,261 (53.4%)
- Male students: 914,528 (46.6%)
Sustained Government Support for Girls’ Empowerment
Dr. Madbouly reaffirmed that Egypt’s national development strategy will continue to prioritize programs that develop girls’ skills, amplify their voices, and support their rights. These include initiatives focused on:
- Gender equality
- Access to quality education and skills development
- Youth leadership and civic participation
- Legal and social protection for girls
