In a powerful reaffirmation of the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) dedication to advancing education and innovation, Ghada Tawfik, the CBE’s Sub-Governor for Social Responsibility, participated in the 2025 graduation ceremony of Zewail City of Science, Technology, and Innovation—one of Egypt’s most prestigious academic institutions.

The Central Bank’s presence at the event underscores its strategic commitment to education, which remains a cornerstone of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy. In her remarks, Tawfik emphasized that empowering young minds through quality education is crucial to driving sustainable development, economic inclusion, and national progress.

“Education is not just a priority—it is a responsibility we hold toward the next generation of innovators and leaders,” said Tawfik during the ceremony. “The Central Bank of Egypt is proud to contribute to this journey through strategic investments in youth and science.”

CBE’s Educational Support: Fully Funded Scholarships

As part of its broader CSR agenda, the Central Bank of Egypt has provided fully funded scholarships to academically outstanding students enrolled in the Faculties of Science and Engineering at Zewail City. These scholarships are designed to support talented students from diverse backgrounds, enabling them to access world-class education regardless of financial barriers.

This initiative aligns with the CBE’s vision to foster a knowledge-based economy and reflects Egypt’s national goals of cultivating a generation equipped with the skills needed for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Strategic Focus on Youth Empowerment

Tawfik’s participation in the graduation ceremony marks a pivotal moment in the CBE’s broader efforts to integrate social responsibility into Egypt’s financial and development ecosystems. The bank continues to channel its resources toward initiatives that enhance financial literacy, technological innovation, and equitable access to education.

Zewail City, founded by Nobel Laureate Dr. Ahmed Zewail, stands at the intersection of science and social impact, producing graduates who contribute meaningfully to Egypt’s scientific, technological, and economic landscapes.

A Long-Term Vision for Sustainable Development

The CBE’s focus on education is part of a long-term vision to align Egypt’s financial sector with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

By championing educational excellence, the Central Bank of Egypt reaffirms its role not only as a financial regulator but as a national development partner shaping the future of Egypt through strategic social investments.
