GAH Chair Participates in 91st CMEF Medical Expo in China

The Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare (GAH),Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, is participating in the 91st edition of the China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, China, from April 8 to 11, 2025. This international event is one of the largest global platforms dedicated to healthcare technology, attracting innovators, manufacturers, and service providers from around the world.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Dr. El-Sobky emphasized the importance of GAH’s presence at such high-profile global gatherings. “We are committed to engaging in international collaboration, exploring partnerships with leading global technology companies, and adopting innovations that can enhance Egypt’s healthcare model,” he said. “Our goal is to leverage global advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), early diagnosis, and telemedicine to drive a comprehensive digital transformation within our healthcare facilities, ensuring sustainable and intelligent healthcare delivery.”

Dr. El-Sobky also highlighted CMEF as an invaluable platform for discovering investment opportunities and acquiring advanced medical technologies that will contribute to the expansion of local manufacturing of medical devices and supplies in Egypt.  “We are exploring new products and solutions that will support the ongoing development of a smart healthcare model within our facilities,” he added.

During his visit, Dr. El-Sobky toured several company booths, including Northern Meditec, Hangzhou Health Shining, Mindray, FLLOY Technology (Guangzhou), and Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare. He was introduced to cutting-edge technologies and solutions in various fields, such as home care, personal health, wearable devices, elderly care, and robotic surgeries.

Dr. El-Sobky also held specialized meetings with experts and exhibitors to explore the latest advancements in these fields. The goal was to evaluate the potential applications of these technologies within GAH’s facilities to improve patient care and enhance service delivery. He was accompanied by Dr. Amir El-Talwani, Executive Director of the General Authority for Healthcare.

This marks Dr. El-Sobky’s second participation in CMEF, having previously attended the 90th edition of the fair in 2024. His ongoing involvement in such events is part of a comprehensive strategic plan to bolster Egypt’s healthcare authority’s international presence. This strategy focuses on exploring investment opportunities, acquiring advanced technologies, and expanding the local manufacturing of medical supplies, while reinforcing a smart healthcare model across Egypt’s healthcare facilities.

CMEF 2025 will feature over 5,000 international brands and attract more than 200,000 visitors from over 150 countries. The exhibition showcases the latest innovations and trends in areas such as AI in healthcare, robotic surgeries, laboratory diagnostics, digital healthcare, and infrastructure-supporting technologies. The event serves as a key platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and launching new products and solutions for a global audience.
