On behalf of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly attended the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) 2025 annual meeting in Davos. During the event, Dr. Madbouly witnessed the signing of a Letter of Intent between Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the WEF to collaborate on designing and implementing the “Economic Growth and Development Accelerator” in Egypt. The agreement was signed by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and Mr. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the WEF.
The Economic Growth and Development Accelerator initiative, first launched during the 2024 Davos meeting, aims to redefine global growth standards by supporting policymakers in balancing the quality and quantity of economic growth. The initiative facilitates collaboration among government leaders, CEOs, academics, and civil society to develop holistic and sustainable growth strategies.
Egypt Takes Leadership Role in Global Growth Initiative
Under the agreement, Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development will act as a co-chair for the accelerator program, working alongside other global leaders to shape its strategic direction and ensure its alignment with Egypt’s national priorities. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat emphasized that the collaboration demonstrates Egypt’s commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
“The Letter of Intent reflects our ministry’s dedication to leveraging global expertise and fostering partnerships to advance Egypt’s development agenda. As co-chair of the Economic Growth and Development Accelerator, we aim to create synergies that align with our strategic priorities and accelerate the implementation of impactful initiatives,” said Dr. Al-Mashat.
Strategic Partnership with the World Economic Forum
Mr. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, highlighted the deepening relationship between Egypt and the WEF, which has expanded significantly in recent years. He praised Egypt’s forward-looking approach and its readiness to embrace innovative frameworks for sustainable growth.
“The forum is committed to working closely with Egypt to develop and implement the Economic Growth and Development Accelerator. We will leverage insights from the New Economy and Society Center and provide regular updates, resources, and capacity-building workshops to support the initiative’s success at the national level,” Schwab stated.
Supporting Egypt’s Development Vision
The accelerator program aims to equip Egypt with actionable strategies to drive balanced economic growth. This includes hosting workshops, providing access to WEF’s global knowledge base, and offering tailored solutions to overcome challenges. The initiative aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 development strategy, emphasizing innovation, sustainability, and public-private collaboration.
Dr. Al-Mashat affirmed the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of the initiative, adding, “This partnership with the World Economic Forum further strengthens Egypt’s position as a leader in shaping a sustainable and inclusive global economy.”
A Milestone for International Collaboration
The signing of the Letter of Intent marks a significant step in Egypt’s collaboration with the World Economic Forum and its ongoing efforts to establish itself as a hub for economic innovation and development. This partnership reflects Egypt’s commitment to engaging with international institutions to build a resilient and prosperous future.
The Davos meeting concluded with optimism about the collaborative potential of the Economic Growth and Development Accelerator, signaling a new era of strategic cooperation between Egypt and the global community.
