The Turin Philharmonic Orchestra will debut Egyptian composer Ahmed El-Saedi’s new work, Egyptian Scenes. The concert, scheduled for October 29, will mark the opening of the orchestra’s 2024-2025 season.
Commissioned by the TPO, Egyptian Scenes is a four-movement suite that offers a musical journey through Egypt’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage. El-Saedi’s composition is a testament to his ability to blend traditional Egyptian elements with contemporary symphonic techniques.
The concert will also feature Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E minor, Op. 98. The pairing of El-Saedi’s work with a classic piece by Brahms promises a captivating evening of music.
El-Saedi, who is also the principal conductor and music director of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, expressed his excitement about the premiere. “It’s a great honor to have my work performed by such a prestigious orchestra,” he said. “I hope that Egyptian Scenes will resonate with audiences in Turin and beyond.”
The Turin Philharmonic Orchestra’s decision to commission El-Saedi’s work is a testament to the growing international recognition of Egyptian music.
