Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsi, affirmed that the government stands by the families of the victims and injured in the train collision accident in Sharqia Governorate by all possible means.
Morsi stressed that the government will provide compensation according to the law. Each family that lost a member in the accident will receive 50 thousand pounds, with the possibility of doubling it, while compensation for the injured will be determined based on the degree of injury as determined by medical reports.
The Minister’s statements came during her visit to the injured in Zagazig University and Al-Ahrar hospitals, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb.
Dr. Maya further expressed her sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
The Minister also checked on the health condition of the injured and spoke with doctors to find out the nature of their injuries, directing them to provide all means of care for them.
The Minister stopped by a mother who lost her two daughters in the accident and accompanied her to the morgue, where she was accompanied by the Director of Al-Ahrar Hospital, Dr. Sameh Hussein.
The Minister also insisted on personally following up on the critical condition of one of the injured and stayed with the doctors until his condition stabilized.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Health confirmed that the accident resulted in the death of two sisters and a child, in addition to the injury of 49 people.
He added that 44 of the injured are in stable condition and will leave the hospital tonight, while five other cases will be monitored and are expected to be discharged soon.
