New Alamein Festival Launches Handicrafts and Heritage Exhibition

The New Alamein Festival launched the Handicrafts and Heritage Exhibition yesterday, showcasing Egypt’s persistence in preserving its rich craft heritage and tradition, reported Extra News channel, according to the “Ahram Online” website.

The exhibition is one of the festival’s key initiatives to nurture and preserve cultural heritage. It also aims to market local handicrafts. 

According to Extra News, the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the National Council for Women organized the event.

Extra News reporter said visitors to the exhibition can explore the history of luxurious Egyptian antiques dating back to the times of the Pharaohs.

The exhibition showcased a variety of remarkable handicrafts: fine porcelain, handmade carpets decorated with Islamic patterns, wooden products, and jewelry.

Moreover, Extra News reported that it also promoted the work of artisans with disabilities, who generated creative artwork despite difficulties.

According to the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the exhibition opens daily from 5 pm to 2 am and continues until 25 August.

Organized by United Media Services for the second year, the New Alamein Festival, running until 30 August, showcases concerts, exhibitions, beach activities, and entertainment events. 

Meanwhile, according to a statement by the National Council for Women, the festival also saw the opening of the Egyptian Family Development Exhibition.

The exhibition, which started on 7 August and ends on the 25th, constitutes another opportunity for artisans from diverse backgrounds to display their artwork.

According to Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi, the exhibition will host 76 participants from all over Egypt, including 54 exhibitors from the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s productive families and 22 female entrepreneurs from the National Council of Women.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi, 13 other ministers, and the CEO and Managing Director of United Media Services Company inspected the exhibition on 9 August, the National Council of Women announced.

The Egyptian Red Crescent, Nasser Social Bank, and the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse also played a vital role in organizing the event.
