Egypt’s Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, led the first meeting of the environmental and climate policies committee on Saturday. The committee focused on its objectives and the roles and duties of its members in the coming period.
According to the Egyptian gazette the session was attended by Ali Abu Senna, the CEO of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), consultants to the minister of environment and local development, and committee members from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Finance, Local Development, Investment, Electricity, Petroleum, and Industry.
The committee’s activities, according to the minister, were launched in collaboration with the Ministry of International Cooperation through the World Bank.
She further mentioned that the Environment Ministry has since worked together with various ministries on multiple issues, particularly decarbonization, as well as matters concerning the electricity and petroleum sectors.
