Dr. Hossam Abdul Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the European Medicines Agency approved the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine. He also mentioned that only 3 out of every million people who received the vaccine contracted the virus.
He explained that no drug is without side effects on the body. He also mentioned that over 170 countries have authorized the use of AstraZeneca.
Abdul-Ghaffar reported that globally, 2.5 billion people have received the AstraZeneca vaccine. Out of these, only 80 individuals have been infected. Furthermore, in Egypt, 14 million individuals have received the vaccine and no infections have been reported among them. He also confirmed that no infections have been detected in individuals who have received the AstraZeneca vaccine or other vaccines.
He explained that the Egyptian state has not abandoned the health of its citizens and is keen on their lives, pointing out that the state is also eager to prevent any harm to citizens in receiving the vaccine.
Hossam highlighted the proactive approach of Egypt in providing all the necessary vaccines for the coronavirus. He pointed out that Egypt’s diverse range of vaccines is a unique feature, not commonly found in most countries, thereby keeping the audience well-informed about the state’s efforts.
