Vanity Fair, Red Sea International Film Festival Honor Egyptian Star Nabila Ebeid in Celebration of Women in Cinema

The 5th edition of the Women in Cinema Dinner event was held this evening by Vanity Fair Europe and the Red Sea International Film Festival (RedSeaIFF) in celebration of female voices in cinema. It highlighted the accomplishments of women in front and behind the camera positively impacting the film industry and influencing the next generation of talent in Saudi Arabia, Africa, and India. This year witnessed Red Sea IFF and Vanity Fair Europe honoring renowned Egyptian actress Nabila Ebeid.

Nabila, a legend of Arab cinema from the 20th century and the country’s first screen icon, has contributed to the vibrant cinematic landscape of Egypt. Since making her screen debut at age 16, she has worked with many of Egypt’s top directors and has become a beloved star in the country’s film industry.

Notably, Ebeid has embraced a wide range of roles, from the historical and religious to the compelling feminist and sociopolitical. In addition to starring in memorable roles in Rabi’a Al Adawiyya and Al Raqesa Wal Seyasi, she has starred in historic successes like Wa La Yazal Al Tahqiq Mostameran, which won her Best Actress at the Alexandria Film Festival giving her the first taste of global success and recognition.

Catherine Deneuve, Naomi Campbell, Sofia Vergara, Sharon Stone, Zoe Saldana, Baz Luhrmann, Maïwenn, Ananya Panday, Diane Kruger, Nadine Nijem, Nabila Ebeid, Amy Jackson, Ed Westwick, Michelle Rodriguez, Lucas Bravo, Marco Perego, Michelle Williams, Freida Pinto, Paz Vega, Catherine Martin, Aseel Omran, Sarah Taibah, Sarah Murad, Yasmine Sabri, Katrina Kaif, Ananya, and Alessandra Ambrosio were among the notable attendees at the event hosted at the Shangri-La in Jeddah.
