In a recent statement, Herro Mustafa Garg, the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, announced that the United States has partnered with Egypt and Qatar to secure the release of hostages held in Gaza and to establish an extended ceasefire that will allow additional humanitarian aid to reach the Palestinian people.
Throughout the crisis and the subsequent negotiations, Egypt has once again demonstrated its commitment to regional stability and generosity in aiding civilians caught in the crossfire.
“On behalf of the United States government and the American people, I also want to express my appreciation and recognition for Egypt’s steadfast and continued focus on ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza, as well as facilitating the safe departure of foreign nationals, including American citizens and their families. I am grateful for our Egyptian partners’ insistence and dedication to working closely with us to achieve today’s hopeful news – a testament to the strength of our partnership,” said Garg.
She added that The United States commends the leadership of the Egyptian government and its long-term vision for working towards peace in the Middle East. As President Biden and Secretary Blinken have stated, the United States rejects the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, whether to Egypt or any other location. “I remain committed to this shared commitment.
