“The Holy Land” is an EP compilation recently released by Egyptian label Laselky in collaboration with big names in Egypt’s electronic music scene and is devoted to the cause of Palestine. All proceeds from the EP, which features nine tracks by Hassan Abou Alam, Baher, Karim Yousry, Saharty, Joey, Fady El-Tellawy, Adam, Jorg, and Shunus, will go directly toward charities that support Palestine.

La Selky’s founder, Khaled Youssry, stated in an interview with SceneNoise that the EP sheds light on their stance on Palestine and simultaneously attracts anyone who likes the music of the compilation. He added that the artwork on the EP, which features a quote encircling the Palestinian flag, demonstrates the artists’ unwavering support for the Palestinian people.

The EP includes a variety of experimental electronic beats with high BPMs woven into funky house rhythms. The songs’ distinct synths, original sampling, and dub-infused melodic patterns enhance their futuristic vibe. The EP opens with the erratic and punky track “Waiting” by Hassan Abou Alam and closes with a trance-like song “You don-t See Dub” by Karim Yousry.

It is worth mentioning that Laselky has launched a few initiatives to improve Egypt’s music scene and raise the profile of Egyptian musicians abroad through strategic releases and partnerships with foreign agencies. The Selk party series creates a safe, energetic, music-focused space enhanced by the Kadr platform, which actively supports local musicians with radio mixes, video sessions, and parties.
