As soon as American rapper Travis Scott’s “Utopia” concert, set for 28 July at Giza Pyramids, was announced, fans rushed to snatch all premium and VIP tickets in under 15 minutes from the initial price list release.
The insanely quick sell-out came after the infamous rapper revealed that he will debut his new album, “Utopia” in a live-streamed concert held at the Pyramids of Giza, promoted by Live Nation, and that tickets are already available for purchase.
Start prices were valued at EGP 4,000 (USD 129) for Premium tickets, while VIP tickets were sold at EGP 6,500 (USD 210).
And even though all premium and VIP tickets were gone in a snap, the Egyptian fanbase was divided upon the announcement; responses varied from excitement to genuine concern due to the well-known controversy in Scott’s career, safety & security concerns regarding his past concerts, and what it means for him to perform at Egypt’s most iconic monument.
In addition, Scott’s previous music event has caused some drama in the past, when the singer first performed songs from his first album, “Astroworld” at the Astroworld Music Festival incident in 2021, where ten concertgoers lost their lives while dozens were injured.
However, a Grand Jury in Houston, Texas has recently ruled that Scott and the festival organizers are not guilty and would not be facing criminal charges for the deaths.
Notably, this upcoming album is wildly anticipated, as the artist hasn’t released an album since 2018’s “Astroworld”. Scott has previously stated that pre-orders for “Utopia” are available, but the definite release date is yet to be announced.
