EEAA Reaches 3 Agreements as Part of 3rd Phase of Industrial Pollution Control Program

Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) has signed three financing agreements with SEMADCO, Flex P Films, and Huhtamaki Egypt to support industrial and investment facilities related to the third phase of the pollution control program. Worth a combined €22 M, these agreements were reached within the framework of the third phase of the industrial pollution control program launched by Egypt’s Environment Ministry.

Commenting on this, Environment Minister, Yasmine Fouad, said that the industrial pollution control program is one of the ministry’s projects for promoting the climate action of the industrial sector, providing financial and technical support for industrial projects, whether to support environmental compatibility or implement energy efficiency systems.

As per the agreements, SEMADCO will construct a water plant for industrial wastewater at a total cost of €13.56 million., and Flex P Films will construct a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste recycling line worth €16.05 M.

For its part, Huhtamaki Egypt will be responsible for building an ethyl acetate solvent recovery unit for €3.59 million.

Also, Fouad witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the EEAA and the General Authority for the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal (SCZone) to support various Egyptian industrial projects within the scope of the authority.
