Top 50 Women Forum and EIoD ink a protocol to empower women in leadership roles

The Top 50 Women Forum signed a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Center for Directors (EIoD), an affiliate of the Financial Regulatory Authority FRA, to provide distance online training for the Top 50 Women Forum members and nonmembers, as part of Corporate Directors Certification Program (CDCP).
The protocol aims at qualifying women through advancing their knowledge of leadership techniques and developing their skills. Through this protocol, the Top Women 50 forum eyes to utilize EIoD’s tremendous capacities in corporate governance across Egypt and the region, to provide trainees with the best practices, principles, methods, tools, and strategies on governance and effective representation in the Boards of Directors within economic and development institutions.
The protocol came as a part of The Top 50 Women Forum’s ongoing efforts to empower women in leadership roles. This protocol is aligned with FRA’s launch of an electronic platform that includes a database of qualified women cadres for leadership positions. This step comes after the issuance of FRA’s decisions to improve women’s representation on the boards of listed companies and companies operating in non-banking financial activities, which entails employing at least one female caliber in their boards to increase women representation in the decision cycle by the end of 2020.
On her part, Ms. Dina Abdel Fattah, the founder of the Top50 Women Forum, said that the first round of the Distance Online Training program is launched in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (a member of the World Bank Group), to qualify female cadres to join the FRA’s database.
Abdel Fattah also praised FRA’s efforts under the leadership of Dr. Mohamed Omran, in integrating and increasing the representation of Egyptian women. She further noted that opening the door for women to take up senior positions is vital to achieve sustainable development goals and enhance overall corporate and economic performance.
Abdel-Fattah further added that the Corona pandemic imposed a significant change on the sustainable development policies among countries and re-evaluated many priorities, including integrating women in development and doubling their participation in leadership positions to enhance their role and integrate them into the political and economic life of Egypt, which receives unlimited support by the Egyptian political leadership.

Moreover, Abdel-Fattah emphasized on building strategic partnerships with major institutions, such as the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the Financial Regulatory Authority’s (FRA), and the National Council for Women, to empower Egyptian women and remove any legislative challenges or cultural barriers.
The Top 50 Women Forum acts as a growing network of Egypt’s most influential women in business, committed to a holistic approach of empowering women and strengthening their decision-making power and participation in the country’s reform processes. The forum launched Egypt’s first-ever Top 50 Most Influential Women grand ceremony in 2016, under the auspices of Egyptian Prime Minister, to elect 50 leading women in business, who made the most significant contributions to the Egyptian economy. The ceremony is held every year to highlight and recognize Egyptian women’s success stories. Top 50 Women Forum members include prominent and influential female ministers, executives, and entrepreneurs across the Financial, Banking, Investment, Trade, Tourism, Technology, and Media sectors.
It is worth mentioning that FRA has recently launched a smart mobile application called “Empowering Women-” complimenting its newly launched electronic platform to compile a comprehensive database of qualified women cadres for leadership positions.
Dr. Mohammed Omran – FRA’s Chairman invited female figures who want to take a seat on corporate boards to start applying through FRA’s electronic platform and register their data – after the smart application marked with FRA’s logo was loaded on the Google store – as an objective mechanism to make their data available for companies.
