Youth Min. Reviews Preparations for Hosting Arab Championship for Juniors and Women, 2029 Amateur Golf World Cup

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, held a meeting with the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Golf Federation, headed by Omar Talaat Mostafa, to discuss the plans for the development of golf in Egypt and expanding participation in the sport. The meeting also addressed preparations for hosting the Arab Championship for Juniors and Women in May, as well as the bid to host the 2029 Amateur Golf World Cup for men and women.

The meeting brought together the Board Members of the Egyptian Golf Federation, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. During the session, the federation outlined its development plan for the sport, which includes organizing local and international tournaments, supporting and training emerging players, and integrating athletes with disabilities into competitions. This aligns with the federation’s commitment to promoting inclusive sports and providing opportunities for all to participate in this distinguished sport.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy emphasized that the Egyptian government places great importance on the development of sports, particularly given the country’s exceptional sports infrastructure. He highlighted the opportunity to strengthen Egypt’s position as an international sports and tourism destination. He also stressed the importance of expanding participation in golf across all demographics, including people with disabilities, in line with the country’s commitment to empowering everyone to engage in sports.

The Minister, further, noted that hosting continental and international tournaments, such as the 2029 Amateur Golf World Cup, would enhance Egypt’s global standing in the sports arena. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s strong support for the Egyptian Golf Federation’s efforts and underlined the need for innovative strategies to achieve the objectives outlined in the development plans.

In this regard, Omar Talaat Mostafa, President of the Egyptian Golf Federation, expressed his gratitude for the support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, emphasizing the federation’s strategic vision to develop the sport at all levels. This includes preparing players, organizing tournaments, and collaborating with various institutions to maximize the use of available resources. He added that the federation is working to position Egypt as one of the leading countries in hosting major golf tournaments.
