ECFA Board, FM Discuss Egypt’s Ties with Strategic Partners

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had talks on Saturday, Jan. 21, with the newly-formed board of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA) chaired by former foreign minister Mohamed Orabi.

The two-hour meeting tackled Egypt’s relations with its strategic partners, conditions in Africa, and the Ethiopian dam problem, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

The talks also addressed Egypt’s relations with neighboring countries and the role of Egyptian diplomacy in supporting the state’s goals in various political, economic, and cultural domains.

Additionally, the conferees underlined the key role played by research centers in supporting the decision-making process.

They stressed the importance of maintaining communication channels with thought and research centers and think tanks to magnify the benefit of scientific and practical experience to support foreign policy goals and protect national interests.

At the end of the meeting, the foreign minister had a photo opportunity with the council board.

That meeting falls within the framework of the Foreign Ministry’s keenness to interact with research and thought centers and exchange views on various issues related to foreign policies and international affairs.
