The Ministry of Social Solidarity hosted a prestigious ceremony to honor the Ideal Mothers of 2025, with the attendance of Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, and Amal Ammar, Chairperson of the National Council for Women. The event was also graced by Eng. Marguerite Saroufim, Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity, and various public figures.
The ceremony celebrated mothers across Egypt for their exceptional roles in their families and society. Among the honored individuals were the Ideal Mothers on a national level: Mrs. Ilham Ibrahim Nour from the Red Sea Governorate (First place), Mrs. Mona Naggar Suleiman from Aswan (Second place), and Mrs. Sherbat Fahmy Ammar from Assiut (Third place). Additionally, the ceremony recognized the Ideal Mothers from each governorate.
Acknowledging Egypt’s Mothers Across Regions
The regional honorees included Hanan Mohamed Abdel Halim from Cairo, Mona Shaat Ibrahim from Beheira, Hanaa Makram Ramadan from Gharbia, Randa Samir Massad from Port Said, and many others representing the diversity and richness of Egypt’s provinces. Special recognitions were given to mothers of children with disabilities, mothers who serve as foster parents, and those who have lost children in service to their country.
A particularly emotional moment was the recognition of Samira Shaaban Hassan from North Sinai, a mother of a child with a disability, and Fawziya Taha Ali, who has served as a foster mother from Damietta. Additionally, there were tributes to the mothers of martyrs, such as Sana Bashari Mohamed, the mother of a police martyr, and Ferial Abdel Rahman El-Ghorabaly, the mother of a military martyr.
Acknowledging the Pioneers within the Ministry
The ceremony also recognized exemplary mothers within the Ministry of Social Solidarity itself. Honorees included Saroufim, Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity, and Ms. Maha Helali, the Minister’s Technical Advisor for Disability Affairs, as well as Ms. Amani Abdel Fattah, for their exceptional contributions.
Dr. Maya expressed her pride in hosting this annual celebration, extending the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who expressed his deep pride in these women and their struggles. “Each of these ideal mothers represents 31 crowns upon the head of Egypt—symbols of the patience, dignity, and future we all deserve,” Dr. Morsy stated.
She also highlighted the coincidence of the celebration with the 10-year anniversary of Egypt’s most important cash support program, “Takaful and Karama.” The program, which began in 2015, has empowered over 7.7 million families, 75% of which are headed by women. “This program is not just financial support, but a story of persistence and hope for millions of Egyptian women,” she emphasized.
Supporting Women’s Economic Empowerment
Dr. Morsy also stressed the government’s commitment to supporting Egyptian women, beyond cash support. The Ministry allocates 5.2 billion Egyptian pounds for women who are primary breadwinners, supporting 673,000 women. Additionally, 7.8 billion pounds have been disbursed through the Family Insurance Fund for 409,000 women benefiting from maintenance orders. Over the past decade, more than one million women have received funding for small businesses, and 15,000 community pioneers are working to raise awareness across the country.
Celebrating the Power of Motherhood
The Minister also reflected on the significance of Mother’s Day in Egypt, an event that has become a national occasion to honor all mothers, particularly those who have shown exceptional love and resilience. “Motherhood is a heroic story, and today, we celebrate not only ideal mothers but the values that have shaped the conscience of this great nation,” Dr. Morsy noted.
In her speech, Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, expressed her pride in being part of this celebration, adding, “I am honored to celebrate all the ideal mothers from across Egypt, as I once honored the ideal mother of Damietta during my previous role as governor. Now, I am proud to honor all these wonderful women from every governorate.” She emphasized that behind every ideal mother is a remarkable story of sacrifice and dedication.
Counselor Amal Ammar: A Tribute to Egyptian Mothers
Counselor Amal Ammar, Chairwoman of the National Council for Women, delivered a heartfelt tribute to Egyptian mothers, recognizing them as symbols of boundless giving and sacrifice. “Mother’s Day is not just a celebration, but a time to reflect on the immense responsibility mothers carry in shaping future generations,” she said.
She also emphasized that March 21st, the day dedicated to celebrating mothers, is not only a time of joy but a symbol of renewal, as it coincides with the arrival of spring. “Just as spring brings growth and renewal, mothers give life, nurture, and raise strong, impactful children,” Counselor Ammar added.
She concluded by saluting all Egyptian mothers, particularly those who have faced challenges and raised successful, influential generations. “The ideal mother is not just someone who has raised children, but someone who has instilled values, love for the homeland, and perseverance in the face of adversity,” she said.
A National Celebration of Motherhood
The ceremony underscored the pivotal role mothers play in shaping the nation’s future, with all speakers emphasizing the profound impact of mothers in building resilient, empowered societies. This annual event serves as a reminder of the vital contribution of every mother to Egypt’s development, prosperity, and hope for the future.
As Egypt continues to honor its mothers, it is clear that these women will remain at the heart of the nation’s journey toward greater progress and success.
