Selena Gomez’s popular makeup brand, Rare Beauty, shared an Instagram post yesterday, revealing that it will be contributing to Palestinian relief organizations in light of the crisis and denounced the recent Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.
The famed brand posted on its official Instagram account, denouncing all forms of antisemitism and Islamophobia; the post read: Rare Beauty will be making donations to the International Red Cross/ Red Crescent Societies – Magen David Adom and Palestinian Red Crescent Society, who are providing urgent care on the ground. We will also donate to UNICEF to help get urgent medical relief and resources to the children of Gaza.
The post concluded with mental health resources that readers could use should they or someone they know need them.
The Rare Beauty post came in response to Selena’s statement from October 31 in which she declared that the Horror, hate, violence, and terror that’s going on in the World was the reason behind her social media hiatus and that an Instagram post would not be sufficient to put an end to the Israel-Hamas war.
The singer-actress reiterated that she does “not support any of what’s going on” and said she will be deactivating Instagram in response to her post on November 2. She still has activity on her account right now.
Her statement drew massive backlash online as Gomez expressed a desire to retire from social media, considering she is one of the most-followed people on Instagram, ranking 3rd place with roughly 430 million followers.
