Rayyanah Barnawi has made history by becoming the first Arab woman to venture into space. This groundbreaking achievement is now officially recognized by Guinness World Records. Her groundbreaking achievement marks a significant milestone for women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) across the Arab world.

A Historic Mission

Barnawi, a biomedicine researcher, participated in the Axiom Space Mission 2 (Ax-2). The mission launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. During her 10-day stay aboard the International Space Station (ISS), she conducted vital scientific experiments. Her work showcases the essential role of women in advancing space science and research.

In a statement, Barnawi expressed her excitement about the record. She stated, “It is an honor to represent my country and the Arab world in this monumental journey. I hope this inspires future generations of women to pursue their dreams in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).” Her words resonate deeply in a region where female representation in STEM is increasingly crucial.
