Sarah Shendy Takes Oath as First Egyptian-Muslim Police Sergeant in America

In a new challenge that she passed, as usual, the Egyptian Muslim Sarah Shendy became the first sworn-in Egyptian Muslim police sergeant in the state of Ohio after 15 years in which she devoted her life to implementing the law and inspiring others to serve the community as police officers.

Shendy, who recently took the oath with the Case Western Reserve University Police Department on May 24, became the first Egyptian-Muslim police sergeant in Ohio.

She told “news5cleveland”: It is a great honor to serve and protect more than 12,000 students and 3,600 employees on campus. This department has an exceptional culture and values ​​diversity, leadership, and the advancement of women in law enforcement.

The newly-appointed Egyptian Muslim girl described wearing a military uniform as the best job on the planet and the most satisfying job, saying: We get opportunities and privilege, and we get to be part of people’s stories.

She continued: We are very interested in communicating with students, visitors, and faculty here, not only through the leadership, but we are very keen on the periodicals; we have students from 102 different countries and other things here that may be different for them.

Paul Owens, of Case Western University’s Department of Public Safety, praised Sarah Shendy, stressing his belief that she will be a huge boost to the police department and the entire campus.
