She started her social work career in 1982. She is an active member of Inner Wheel Club, Zamalek and a number of civil society associations. She is also a founding member at the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357, Egypt Hearts Association, Vodafone Charity Foundation, and Kheir wa Baraka Association for slum upgrading. This is in addition to her role in support of “Made In Egypt” initiative since 2001, through holding exhibitions. Active Member of Inner Wheel Club and a number of civil society associations. (Inner Wheel is one of the largest women’s international organization in the world with members in over 100 countries; it is a non-profit organization that provides social services mainly in favor of girls, women and the elderly, and concerned in many fields of action, inter alia: poverty, health and education. Founder of five young members clubs of Inner Wheel, to encourage their involvement in social activities. Resumed the Chair of Inner Wheel Club Zamalek for several times. Former Chairman of Inner Wheel Club district 95 Egypt & Jordan, which consists of thirty clubs. Initiator of “Made in Egypt” initiative since 2001 which continues to present, aimed at promoting Egyptian products by supporting small enterprises and encouraging creative young designers and entrepreneurs, and giving interest in and development of heritage. Ms. Helmi is a Non Executive Board Member at Delta Insurance Company, Bedayti Microfinance Company, Bedayti Consumer Finance Company and National Electricity Technology Company (Kahraba). Ms. Helmi holds an M.Sc. in Finance from London Business School and B.A. (Highest Honors) in Business Administration and Economics (Double Major) from the American University in Cairo. Ms. Helmi has also completed the courses for certification as Board Member with Institute of Directors (IOD) London.
