Associate Director, Head of Corporate Governance unit – The American University in Cairo, School of Business

Sally Abbas is currently an Associate Director, heading the Corporate Governance Unit at the Office of Strategic Alignment and Internationalization, School of Business, at The American University in Cairo. It promotes knowledge in the field of corporate governance in Egypt and the Arab world through developing and disseminating knowledge, capacity building, quality research, and advance the understanding and practices of corporate governance in a cross disciplinary environment including leading academics, business leaders, members of corporate boards, policy makers, practitioners, regulators, and students. Its main activities are Women on Boards Observatory, SMEs governance, SOEs governance and family business governance while building and maintaining constructive relationships with key internal and external contacts and

stakeholders, government entities and businesses.

Before joining AUC in 2010, she was the General Manager & Partner of the Egyptian Saudi

Company for Construction and Reconstruction (EGYSAD), a family business owned company. Prior to EGYSAD, she worked as a Business consultant. Furthermore, she worked in investment banking.

She served as a Manager in Marketing and Credit in the Egyptian American Bank.

She has experience in the areas of Finance, Strategic planning, management, business consultancy and higher education.

She holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Management and a Bachler of Art degree majoring in Business Administration and minoring in computer science from The American University in Cairo.

She is both a certified director and a certified corporate governance trainer for SMEs by IFC.

She is a member of VP International Club for Social Activities.
