On August 8, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired a meeting to discuss a project proposal submitted by a major foreign company to establish a giant plant for green hydrogen in Egypt.
The meeting was also in the presence of Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker, Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El Din, the CEO of the company responsible for executing this project, and other officials.
The Cabinet’s spokesman said the plant is due to annually produce 400,000 tons of green hydrogen through complete reliance on solar energy with a capacity of 15 gigawatts.
He further stated the plant production will be exported to Europe, noting the project is expected to generate annual profits of USD one billion and provide many jobs.
