A video depicting a robot waiter dressed in a chef’s attire seamlessly taking customer orders at Koshary Abou Tarek, a renowned koshary restaurant in Egypt, has garnered attention online.
Social media users nicknamed the robot’s debut ‘Om El-Sa’ad’, which garnered intrigue, fascination, and jokes from commenters.
“The video depicts restaurant staff joyfully dancing alongside a robot, prompting a lighthearted comment from a viewer about the potential future advancements of robotics technology.
The 100-kilogram robot, designed in an anime style and formally referred to as ‘Kosheir’ by the restaurant, operates continuously for 12 hours before requiring several hours to recharge.
According to the Egyptian Streets Website the technicians have incorporated commonly used restaurant phrases into the robot’s programming to support and enhance customer interactions.
“Kosheir is presently in a trial period as it awaits a permanent placement within the staff. Additionally, there is uncertainty regarding the restaurant’s plans for potential future inclusion of additional robots.”
The primary location of the restaurant situated in Downtown Cairo offers a variety of koshary plate sizes, including small, medium, and large.
