In the presence of the heads of ministries’ equal opportunities units, the National Council for Women held a meeting that lasted two days at its headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to monitor the initiatives taken by the ministries and subordinate organizations to carry out the themes of the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030.

Shaimaa Naim, the General Directorate of Strategy’s Director General, gave a summary of the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030’s sub-objectives, as well as the strategy’s subsequent studies on indicators in its half-term review and review of the interventions made in each of the strategy’s axes. She also stressed the significance of putting the President’s mandates, which are announced at annual Council conferences and related meetings, into action, and how ministries should incorporate them into their work to improve the status of women.

The interventions, programs, and activities supporting the strategy’s topics were examined by ministry representatives, together with the plans slated for implementation in the third quarter of fiscal year 2023/2024.

Following the meeting, a number of recommendations were put into action, such as holding meetings within ministries to continue educating staff members of both genders about women’s empowerment issues and the Unit’s work, as well as collaborating on joint activities between the ministries’ equal opportunities units to provide integrated programs. In order to enhance women’s health, the Ministry of Health continues to raise awareness of health issues within the current ministries, focusing on workers of both genders and their children.

Furthermore, to incorporate the planning of training programs and recipients, to make clear the proportion of female recipients in the activities conducted by the ministries, and to oversee the Financial Supervisory Authority’s organization of a financial literacy workshop for members of equal opportunities units, networking between the Ministry of Health’s Equal Opportunities Unit and university anti-violence units, as well as the execution of awareness-raising campaigns inside universities via the initiatives of equal opportunity units to promote their financial empowerment through internet marketing.
