Ramadan 2023 drama series succeeded in representing the Egyptian woman’s struggle, patience, and endurance through various personas that appeared on the small screen in this year’s Ramadan Race.
Between the successful and practical, simple, strong popular girl, and the woman who works in leadership positions, among other strong female models, viewers were glad to see a proper representation of women and important gender-related issues.

Nelly Karim in “Omla Nadra”:
Nelly takes on one of the most prominent roles that embody a positive example of a woman in Upper Egypt, who rejects unjust customs and traditions and advocates women’s right to inheritance.
Ruby in “Hadret El Omda”:
She presents the role of “Safia”, who leaves her life in the city behind, and her work as a professor of psychology at the American University in Cairo and submits to her Upper Egyptian family’s desire to run for mayor. She tackles numerous important women’s issues with unmatched wisdom and balance.
Yasmine Abdel Aziz in “Darb Nar”:
She plays “Mahra”, a simple yet independent girl from Shubra who is fully responsible for her brother and sister after the death of their father. She works in an “Abaya” factory to raise and financially support her younger siblings.
Hanan Motawie in “Serro Bate’a”:
She embodies the role of “Safia”, a loving, patriotic girl who’s loyal to her homeland, in the series “Serro Al-Bate’a”.
Riham Haggag in “Gamila”:
She plays an ambitious girl who works as a prosecutor that aspires to achieve justice, build a career, and balance married life and work requirements.
