Earlier today, Japan Airlines announced that Mitsuko Tottori, senior managing executive officer, will take over as the company’s first female president starting April 1st.
By March 2026, Japan Airlines hopes to have at least 30% of its manager positions filled by female employees.
According to Reuters, Tottori began her career as a cabin attendant in 1985 and progressed through her career to become the airline’s second female representative director.
The newly-appointed president aspires to help the airline recover from the pandemic and bring tourists back to Japan.
