During the G20 Development Ministerial Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, discussed water issues as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
She emphasized the international commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and highlighted the urgency of addressing climate change and ensuring access to safe drinking water. Additionally, she reviewed Egypt’s AWARe initiative, which aims to address global water and climate challenges.
Al-Mashat also highlighted the significance of financing for water adaptation projects and emphasized the challenges facing sustainable water system financing.
Lastly, she stressed the importance of comprehensive community participation in strengthening water services.
