Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly expressed Egypt’s aspiration to strengthen cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) during the coming period, especially in light of the great importance of the migration file for Egypt, which hosts 9 million migrants and refugees.
This statement came during Madbouly’s meeting with the newly elected director-general of the IOM, Amy Pope, on the sidelines of his participation on behalf of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, in the events of the International Conference on Migration and Development in Rome, according to the “Daily News Egypt” website.
Madbouly stressed the need to develop mechanisms to deal with the migration file and the development of work platforms that help address the roots of the illegal migration file and contribute to reducing the burden on the countries hosting refugees.
