The Local Development Training Center in Saqqara began its eleventh week of training programs on Sunday. This week, the center will offer five new courses designed to enhance the skills of local government employees.
Course Offerings
The five-course curriculum covers a diverse range of topics essential for effective leadership and sustainable development. Investment Map of Egypt provides a comprehensive overview of the country’s investment landscape, equipping participants with the knowledge to navigate and capitalize on opportunities. Introduction to Programs and Performance in Enhanced Local Development Programs focuses on improving program management skills, ensuring efficient and impactful implementation. Leadership Skills in Environmental Improvement and Solid Waste Management addresses the critical issues of climate change adaptation and sustainable practices. Mental Health and Its Impact on Performance and Productivity equips participants with strategies to manage work pressure, enhance well-being, and foster positive interactions with citizens. Finally, Advanced Leadership Development concludes the program, providing participants with the tools and skills necessary to assume future leadership roles.
A total of 182 trainees will benefit from these programs, equipping them with essential skills to tackle contemporary challenges in local governance.
Skill Development
Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, emphasized the importance of these courses in enhancing the performance and capabilities of local government staff. The training targets pressing issues within local administration that will ultimately improve service delivery to citizens and foster sustainable development across all governorates.
New Mental Health Course
Among the notable offerings this week is the Mental Health course, introduced for the first time. This program targets directors and staff in child protection units and equality offices, focusing on the importance of mental well-being in maintaining productivity and handling workplace stress.
Enhancing Local Administration
The eleventh week also includes a course commissioned by the political leadership, titled Introduction to Programs and Performance. This program is conducted in collaboration with the Local Development Program in Upper Egypt and the UNDP technical support project, benefiting 40 trainees from planning directors across various administrative levels.
Minister Awad highlighted the significance of the Investment Map of Egypt course, which will be in partnership with the General Authority for Investment and Experts Academy. This initiative aims to enhance the skills of local employees in attracting investments to their regions and showcasing the unique advantages of each governorate.
