The Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) actively participated in the OECD Forum on “Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Middle East and North Africa,” held in Cairo, Egypt.
Led by JNCW Secretary-General Maha Ali and Ambassador Amjad Adayleh, the Jordanian delegation joined eight Arab countries in launching a project aimed at enhancing financial inclusion for women’s entrepreneurship and access to financing.
In a statement released on Saturday, Ali emphasized Jordan’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment as a national priority, aligning with King Abdullah II’s vision of political and economic modernization. She highlighted the importance of empowering women and increasing their active participation in public life, referencing the Kingdom’s Women’s Empowerment Strategy within the Economic Modernization Vision.
JNCW has undertaken several initiatives to boost women’s economic participation, including legislative reforms, creating supportive workplaces, and encouraging entrepreneurship. The National Women’s Strategy (2020-2025) prioritizes economic empowerment as a cornerstone of women’s active participation in public, political, and social life.
Furthermore, the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (2023-2028) aims to increase women’s access to financial services and reduce the gender gap, a significant challenge for women business owners.
