Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, played a pivotal role in the opening of phase one of the ‘Magdi Yacoub Rwanda-Egypt Heart Center’ during his visit to Kigali, Rwanda’s capital. His significant contribution is a key development in the healthcare sector.
The center is a significant project that will strengthen healthcare collaboration between the two countries, according to the Egyptian Gazette.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid shared that the minister inspected the center’s construction site.
As per Abu Zeid, Abdelatty engaged in discussions with the foreign and health ministers in Rwanda, accompanied by the renowned heart surgeon Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub.
The spokesperson stated that a memorandum of understanding was signed between the drug authorities in Egypt and Rwanda to facilitate cooperation in the field of medications. This significant agreement paves the way for future healthcare collaborations.
After the celebrations, the minister also participated in a press conference, during which he congratulated Rwandan President Paul Kagame on his victory in the recent presidential election.
As per the spokesperson, Abdelatty expressed high hopes for the center, envisioning it as a future regional hub for cardiac surgery in East and Central Africa, aligning with Rwanda’s goals in this area.
