Earlier today, a delegation of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) paid a visit to the premises of the Desert Research Center (DRC) station in South Sinai to discuss means of implementing sustainable development projects in the governorate.
The FAO delegation chaired by the organization representative in Egypt, Nasredin Hag Elamin and his deputy Mohamed Yacoub, were briefed on the water desalination system, animal production activities, and fodder alternatives used to raise livestock.
Head of DRC, Dr. Abdullah Zaghloul, said the visit comes as part of the cooperation between FAO and the Agriculture Ministry to enhance partnerships with international bodies to upgrade the development plans in the agricultural sector.
He also noted that the visit aims at utilizing DRC station’s potential to implement large-scale sustainable development activities for South Sinai residents.
Finally, the two sides also addressed means of improving local agricultural methods in addition to upgrading the techniques used by farmers to increase the productivity of agricultural crops.
