Local firm UG Medical is partnering with a Japanese company to build a factory making equipment for medical lab tests, the two companies said in a meeting with the Industrial Development Authority.
The factory will cost some EGP 600 mn to build and will be located in the IDA’s Katameya industrial zone, according to an IDA statement. The Japanese company is set to provide the tech.
Some 70% of production will be exported to markets including South America, Africa, and the Middle East, the statement said.
The statement didn’t give a breakdown of how much each firm will invest in the project or a timeline for its establishment.
