Egyptian First Lady Entissar El-Sisi greeted the Egyptian people on Police Day and expressed her gratitude to the families of police martyrs.

She stated: On the occasion of celebrating the Police Day, I would like to greet the Egyptian people. This day is a reminder of the glory and heroism of its men.

El-Sisi added: I also salute the mothers of the martyrs who have offered their most precious for the homeland’s safety and security. May Allah protect Egypt and its people.

On Wednesday, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended a ceremony commemorating the 72nd Police Day, during which he awarded medals of honor to the names of martyred police officers.

The 25th of January commemorates the historic clash between Egyptian police forces and British occupation forces in 1952, known as the “Ismailia Battle.”

It happened when Egyptian police officers refused to hand over their weapons and leave the Ismailia governorate building.

The incident claimed the lives of 50 Egyptian police officers and injured another 80.

The incident sparked the revolution that ended Egypt’s monarchy on July 23, that same year.

Meanwhile, the January revolution of 2011 saw former President Hosni Mubarak deposed after three decades in power, and democratic multi-candidate elections were held the following year.
